Durham born Cathy studied Photography for four years in Newcastle, moving to London to pursue her photographic career as a Forensic Photographer 1991.

Says Cathy: “Since then I have worked as an Event Manager; whilst gaining a diploma in Sports Therapy, a YMCA Gym Instructor qualification and a range of Sport Injury awards”.

Soon after moving South she began kickboxing as a hobby, only to be so good that after just three months her trainer suggested that she entered her first competition. Cathy won convincingly. She proved to be a natural and was undefeated in 16 fights, winning two British Titles.

“I immediately loved the sport’s fierce competition and its tough training,” recalls Cathy, “and I was determined that more people should enjoy it. “I find it really rewarding seeing women advance consciously, and I ‘m proud to as women look in the mirror and see how much they have benefited.” After seven years in the sport and at the very top of the kick boxing tree, Cathy was approached by the World Sports Organisation to enter into professional boxing. Within a year she won the European Flyweight Crown, a title she still holds.

Highly attractive with a charismatic personality, 5’ 1” Cathy looks more suited to the glamorous world of modeling and TV than the boxing ring but her non-stop aggressive fighting-style and fierce determination have made her a genuine world title contender. She is, without doubt, the hardest hitting female in Britain and is the only professional female boxer in London out of only five in the UK. She is also the first British female to win a professional British Title in sporting history.

She has done a lot over the few years including sailing across the Atlantic with Emma Richards (see TV page) and took part in a 120km race in the Verdon Canyon,to raise money for SPARKS charity (www.sparks.co.uk). She is planning a husky race across the antartic early next year to raise money for 'against domestic violence'. She is in talks with a couple of TV companies in regards to TV Presenting on a few ideas she has been working, so there is never a dull moment for Cathy.
